Post Office Closures

It seems that the local experience (Harrogate) shows that the nuber of Post Offices set to close in a given area is fixed.

A successful campaign in Harrogate to save the Cold Bath Road Post Office has a sting in the tail as they seem to have set the number of closures, at 31 I think, so therefore another victim must be found to keep the numbers up.

So a Post Office in the Stockwell area of Knaresborough seems to be under threat. In the last round of closures it was held up by P.O. managers as the saviour for those who lost another nearby office.

If that threat is carried out anyone wanting to use the Post Office will have to go into Knaresborough, where the Post Office is in the back of a supermarket on the High Street with no nearby parking.

And welcome in the community of wikidot users. After a while all the creators of a wiki site are so occupated by their own problems, that they are no longer existent for the others… they have their own problems and tasks to do.

After another while they detect the "others" (sites and users) in the wikidot world and have a look into the community portal, not only when they need help..

Sometime a site- content is near a nonsense, sometimes it is a great idea!

Your one is a site of the second type.

I have a good link for new-starters (could be not neccessarily for you perhaps) :

Your wiki is not wikipedia

it is not neccessarily helpfull, but it helped me some times ago.
And has nothing to do with wikidot.

Onyl one question:
for which country or region or continent ( a.s.o. :) ) have you plabbed your site ?
for every one visitor ? I know some users in bangla desh or Nepal, as in Serbia or elsewhere on the world..

If you accept oppinions from other "worlds" than you should explicit allow this…

I mean - I came from austria in Europe and have no idea after the visit - can I write in this board or not.
And: makes it sense for me?

Good luck and a successfull wiki!

Kind regards
Helmut

Only an admin of the community site. I have nothing to do with wikidot itself.

I wish I could get away with no receipt to cover anything under £25, the £250 or whatever it was was laughable. Yet again it seems like one rule for them and another for the rest of us.

I saw a description, think in today's Telegraph, of Brown and Darling likened to Rod Hull and Emu. No wonder Darling has that bemused look on his face.

I don't mean being against everything that those in charge do but a rational deconstruction of arguments put forward for raising taxes, employing more civil servants etc. followed by well thought out and argued alternatives that real people can accept.

But as long as their experience of life is mainly in that rarified atmosphre of the Westminster Village some hope.

If you write that across your ballot paper it will be counted, because all spoiled ballot papers are accounted for as part of the count and are seen by all the candidates. More....

If the point was reached where 'None of the Above' received more 'votes' than the winning candidate then that would surely concentrate minds somewhere.

Of course you have to get off you bum and go to the polling station and register your 'None of the Above' vote.

As voter apathy seems to be the biggest stumbling block to true representattion for the majority I would hope that the potential for 'None of the Above' to get the most votes would encourage many reluctant or non voters to participate in any election.
